Cutting Tool Manufacturing & Tooling Solutions

We provide complete tooling solutions for milling, drilling, grinding, routing, and precision machining applications. Every cutting tool is designed and manufactured in-house using certified, high-quality materials that comply with European (EU) and United States (USA) industrial standards, ensuring consistent quality, precision, and reliability.

Our manufacturing capabilities include both standard and custom-made cutting tools for a wide range of industries. We produce end mills, drills, carbide blades, routing tools, and other special cutting tools engineered to meet specific machining requirements.

Our tooling solutions are designed for processing a variety of materials, including:

  • High-Speed Steel (HSS)
  • Alloy steels
  • Solid carbide

  • Wood and engineered wood products
  • Marble and natural stone
  • Aluminum
  • Aluminium Composite Material (ACM/Alucobond® panels)
  • Other non-ferrous and engineering materials

In addition to manufacturing new tools, we provide comprehensive after-sales support, including professional regrinding and recoating services. Solid carbide cutting tools can typically be reground up to three times, depending on wear and application. Reconditioning extends tool life, reduces production costs, minimizes material waste, and supports more sustainable manufacturing processes.

Following regrinding, we apply a new wear-resistant coating to restore cutting performance. Recoating is an essential part of the reconditioning process, allowing cutting speeds and feed rates to remain comparable to those of a new tool.

One of the most commonly used coatings in our production is TiAlN (Titanium Aluminium Nitride), which provides excellent wear resistance, high-temperature stability, reduced friction, and extended tool life during high-speed machining. Depending on the application and workpiece material, additional PVD coatings are available to optimize machining performance.

Tool Coatings

Selecting the appropriate coating is essential for maximizing the performance and service life of cutting tools. The optimal coating depends on several machining parameters, including cutting speed, feed rate, workpiece material, machining strategy, and the type of coolant or lubrication used during the machining process.

A properly selected PVD coating reduces friction, improves wear resistance, protects the cutting edge from high temperatures, and enables higher machining speeds while maintaining excellent surface finish and dimensional accuracy.

The coating most frequently used in our production is TiAlN (Titanium Aluminium Nitride). TiAlN offers outstanding resistance to heat and oxidation, making it an excellent choice for high-speed machining of alloy steels, hardened steels, stainless steels, and other demanding materials. It extends tool life, improves machining stability, and maintains cutting performance even under elevated operating temperatures.

Depending on the application, workpiece material, and machining conditions, we also offer additional high-performance PVD coatings to ensure optimum productivity, reliability, and tool longevity.

Regrinding Measuring

Precision Tool Regrinding & Reconditioning

At IKAR, we take pride in delivering high-precision regrinding and reconditioning services for solid carbide cutting tools manufactured by our company. Our advanced CNC measuring and grinding technology enables us to inspect, measure, and restore the complete tool geometry with exceptional accuracy.

One of our key advantages is that digital measurement and the entire regrinding process are performed in a single clamping operation. Eliminating repeated repositioning minimizes geometric deviations, ensures maximum concentricity, and restores the original cutting geometry with outstanding precision.

Every tool is carefully inspected before reconditioning to evaluate wear, cutting-edge condition, and overall geometry. Based on this assessment, we determine the optimal regrinding strategy to restore the tool's performance and reliability.

To achieve performance comparable to a new tool, we strongly recommend applying a new PVD coating after regrinding. Recoating restores wear resistance, reduces friction, protects the cutting edge from heat, and allows cutting speeds and feed rates to remain close to the original machining parameters.

Depending on the application and wear condition, most solid carbide tools can be successfully reground up to three times. Tool life and regrinding results depend largely on correct machining parameters, including cutting speed, feed rate, cooling conditions, and proper tool handling during operation.

Professional tool reconditioning significantly reduces manufacturing costs, minimizes production downtime, extends tool life, and decreases material waste. By restoring cutting tools instead of replacing them prematurely, manufacturers reduce raw material consumption and contribute to more sustainable and environmentally responsible production.

To guarantee the highest quality standards and restore the original tool geometry, our regrinding service is available exclusively for cutting tools manufactured by IKAR.

Solid Carbide Tools

Solid carbide (tungsten carbide or cemented carbide) is one of the most advanced materials used in modern cutting tool manufacturing. Its exceptional hardness, outstanding wear resistance, and excellent high-temperature stability make it the preferred choice for high-performance machining applications.

Compared with High-Speed Steel (HSS), solid carbide maintains its cutting edge at significantly higher cutting speeds and operating temperatures. With a melting point of approximately 2,870°C, tungsten carbide offers excellent thermal stability, allowing tools to operate efficiently under demanding machining conditions while maintaining dimensional accuracy and surface quality.

Because of its superior mechanical properties, solid carbide tools can operate at substantially higher cutting speeds and feed rates than conventional HSS tools. This results in shorter machining cycles, higher productivity, improved surface finishes, and extended tool life when machining steels, stainless steels, cast iron, aluminum, titanium alloys, composites, and many other engineering materials.

For applications requiring maximum precision, long tool life, and high production efficiency, solid carbide tools are often the most economical and reliable solution despite their higher initial investment.
